Sources. Participation comes only from each state's own published list, with the list's date. School facts and affiliation come from the U.S. Department of Education's Private School Universe Survey 2023-24. Tuition is the price a school publishes on its own site, linked to that page. Public charter schools come from the federal Common Core of Data, and homeschool rules and funding are quoted from state legislature and agency pages. How each list is read: our data page.
Counts are floors. A listed school we cannot match to the survey counts as not on the list, and each study says what it leaves out.
No paid placement. No school pays to be listed, to rank, or for a badge.
