A maximum of $5,000 to $7,500 per student, set by household income The credit is the lower of that maximum or the school’s tuition and fees after the school’s own scholarships and discounts, so it can be less than $5,000. Families on SNAP, TANF or SoonerCare get the $7,500 maximum whatever their income.
